Accessibility statement
We work to make E12 easier for people of different ages and abilities to browse, find business information and use services. This page explains the available accessibility features and how to contact us.
Adjust the display to suit you
Open “Accessibility settings” in the header to choose:
- Large text: increase text size for easier reading.
- High contrast: strengthen the contrast between text, links and backgrounds.
- Reduced motion: reduce animations and transitions.
- Reset settings: clear these preferences and return to the default display.
You can also use your browser’s zoom controls to adjust the page size.
Navigate with a keyboard
- Press Tab to move to the next link or control, and Shift + Tab to go back.
- A “Skip to main content” link is available at the top of the page. Press Tab to reveal it, then Enter to skip the header navigation.
- Press Enter to follow a link. Use Enter or the space bar to activate buttons and expand “Accessibility settings”.
- When a checkbox has focus, press the space bar to change its setting.
The main content has its own landmark to help screen reader users navigate to it. Links and controls also have visible keyboard focus indicators.
Elderly-friendly version
Open the elderly-friendly version for a simpler layout with common functions. A quick link to this version is also available on the home page.
This version uses a flat design with fewer visual distractions. Each service area has its own colour and a clear text label, so you can identify functions without relying on colour alone.
DARS Elderly-friendly Award criteria W28–W30
W28–W30 are three additional criteria for the DARS Elderly-friendly Award. They apply only when Elderly-friendly is selected on the application form. Gold, Silver and Bronze do not require these three criteria.
- W28: simplify the layout, make common functions easier for older users to find, and use a flat design.
- W29: distinguish service areas with different colours and text labels.
- W30: provide a quick link on the home page when an elderly-friendly version is available.
This page describes the site’s features and design approach. It does not mean E12 has received a DARS award, certification or a comprehensive accessibility assessment.
